Stations of the Cross (IX-XI)
March 20, 2026
Fr. John Colacino C.PP.S.
Ninth Station: Jesus falls a third time

Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi, quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
We adore Thee, O Christ, And we bless Thee, Who by Thy Holy Cross hath redeemed the world.

Psalm 35:18-26

Then I will thank you in the great assembly;
amid the mighty throng I will praise you.
Do not let my lying foes
rejoice over me.
Do not let those who hate me without cause
wink eyes at each other.
They speak no peace to the quiet ones
who live in the land.
Rather, they make deceitful plots,
and, with mouths wide open,
they utter their cry against me:
“Yes, yes! Our eyes have seen it!”
O LORD, you have seen; do not be silent;
LORD, do not stand afar off!
Awake! And stir to my defense,
to my cause, O my God and my LORD!
Vindicate me, LORD, my God,
in accord with your justice;
and let them not rejoice over me.
Do not let them think in their hearts,
“Yes, we have won.”
Do not let them say,
“We have destroyed him!”
Let them be shamed and brought to disgrace
who rejoice at my misfortune.
Let them be covered with shame and confusion
who raise themselves against me.

Collect

All-powerful God,
as often as we grow faint through human weakness,
grant us new life and breath
through the passion and death of your beloved Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. Amen. (ICEL; 1998)

Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of his garments

Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi, quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
We adore Thee, O Christ, And we bless Thee, Who by Thy Holy Cross hath redeemed the world.

Psalm 71:1-7

 In you, O LORD, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
 In your justice, rescue me, free me;
incline your ear to me and save me.
 Be my rock, my constant refuge,
a mighty stronghold to save me,
for you are my rock, my stronghold.
 My God, free me from the hand of the wicked,
from the grip of the unjust, of the oppressor.
 It is you, O LORD, who are my hope,
my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
 On you I have leaned from my birth;
from my motherʼs womb, you have been my help.
At all times I give you praise.
 My fate has filled many with awe,
but you are my mighty refuge.

Collect

God of all,
you gave your only-begotten Son to take the form of a servant,
and to be obedient even to death on a cross.
Give us the same mind that was in Christ Jesus,
that, sharing in his humility,
we may come to be with him in his glory,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen. (BCW)

Eleventh Station: Jesus is nailed to the cross

Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi, quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
We adore Thee, O Christ, And we bless Thee, Who by Thy Holy Cross hath redeemed the world.

Psalm 22:16-21

For dogs encompass me;
    a company of evildoers encircles me;
they have pierced my hands and feet—
 I can count all my bones—
they stare and gloat over me;
 they divide my garments among them,
    and for my clothing they cast lots.
 But you, O Lord, do not be far off!
    O you my help, come quickly to my aid!
 Deliver my soul from the sword,
    my precious life from the power of the dog!
     Save me from the mouth of the lion!
They gave me poison for food,
    and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink.

Collect

Lord Jesus Christ,
your hands, feet and side were pierced
for the world's salvation.
The wounds in your risen body strengthened
the faith of your apostles in your glorious resurrection.
Deepen our devotion to these proofs of your love
and unite us more closely to your Passion,
so that we may rise with you to newness of life,
for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit
one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Congregation of the Passion)
